Test information

What does NNAT stand for?

Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test. NNAT3 is the third edition. Read the parent overview.

How many questions are there, and how long is testing?

NNAT3 administration guidance describes 48 items with 30 minutes of working time and approximately 35–45 minutes including directions. See format and timing.

Which level matches my child’s grade?

The usual guidance is A/K, B/1, C/2, D/3–4, E/5–6, F/7–9 and G/10–12. Confirm the assigned level with the school. See the full table.

Does nonverbal mean no directions are needed?

No. Students still need to understand the task and response method. Ask the school how directions and approved arrangements are handled.

Practice and preparation

Are your sample questions official NNAT items?

No. They are original independent teaching examples with explanations. Explore the worked samples.

Do the samples cover every level and type?

No. Four samples introduce selected visual relationships; they are not a complete level-specific form or a representation of official category weights.

Is a complete online free test available here?

A complete online free test is still in development. The worked-example gallery is available here; a complete online sampler and paid practice are separate features still in development.

How much practice should we do?

Use a routine that fits the student. Start short and untimed, review specific clues and add timing only after the response format is familiar. See the flexible practice plan.

Results and school decisions

Is percentile the same as percentage correct?

No. Percentile describes standing relative to a norm group; percentage correct describes accuracy on a particular set. See the score guide.

Can practice accuracy predict NAI?

No valid conversion is supplied by these independent examples. Matching the official test length does not create official norms.

Is there one gifted-program cutoff?

Program rules vary. Ask the school for its current written criteria and how NNAT results fit with other evidence.

Who should explain the official report?

Ask the school or testing professional responsible for the administration. Use the school checklist to prepare your questions.
